Halloween #1

While Daddy went to have a guys weekend, the kids and Mommy made an early trick-or-treat stop with Papaw and GramT.  As always they had great goodie bags for the kids and they played with the kids so Mommy could rest a little.  The kids had a blast playing with their new game (check earlier entry for video).  Abram did some investigating of his trick or treat bag.

Elefun, we highly recommend it.  The kids, Papaw, and GramT love this new game.  Abram was excited from the time he saw the elephant on the box.

A man on a mission, off to find something else to get in to.

Princess Katie

Papaw and GramT always know just what to get the kids.  This year for Halloween they got Katie a Dora movie with a crown attached.  What follows is the progression the crown took after it was discovered.

And I would like to introduce Princess Katie (as Abram calls her).

Fall is a wonderful time around here.  The leaves are beautiful and loads of fun.  The air is crisp and refreshing.  And two toddlers make new discoveries everyday.  On this evening, we came home to a driveway covered with leaves, so Mommy took the rake to them and make a great for jumping leaf pile.

Abram decided to help make the pile even bigger.  After he raked up a big pile he would run back and forth through the pile spreading it out more and more.  Then when we would rake it all back up he would get a long running jump and jump right in the middle, then laugh and laugh.

Katie had fun jumping, crawling, kicking, and just sitting in the giant pile.

It is so much fun to watch the new discoveries they make everyday.  This is the first year that Abram has noticed the leaves and he is fascinated by all the leaves falling off the trees.  He will stand at the window and watch them fall.  Katie on the other hand just likes to go outside and run around as they fall on her head.  Fall is in the air!

Mr. and Mrs. Grouch

The other night the kids were both extremely grouchy and nothing would make them happy.  Abram finally gave up trying to tell us what he wanted/needed and took care of the problem himself.  He trooped down the hall to the bookshelf, found a book and laid in the middle of the hall reading his books.  After a while he did ask for Mommy to come read with him.  So we sat in the middle of the hall and looked at books for a while.  After that he was much easier to get along with.

Katie on the other hand, needed some Daddy time.  As Daddy was trying to come up with something for dinner (Mommy and Daddy's nightly dilemna ), Katie pulled up the cat scratching post and helped Daddy cook.  She helped Daddy pick out the sides for the evening.  She really enjoys doing that, especially if she gets to sit on the counter and help stir.  She also was much happier, after some cooking time.
Just in case you were wondering, yes we have taken the doors off the cabinets and are in the process of redoing the kitchen...somehow.  Check back in the upcoming months for more details.

Dress Up Morning

Notice that she must pull the skirt up under her armpits to get the full tutu effect.

Once again making Daddy proud while sporting the pink fluffy tutu.

Potty Girl

We think Katie has decided it is time to use the potty.  For a while she has been going in the bathroom with Abram and sitting on the little potty.  Now, we think she has figured out what to do because 3 times now she has gone in, insisted on being put up on the big potty and then actually using it.  The thought of not buying diapers any more is just more than we can imagine.  Wish Katie the best potty wishes you can come up with.

Breaking in the New Couch

After several years and several nasty stains, we decided it was time for a new couch.  So we bit the bullet and got a nice new leather couch.  It took no time at all for the boys to take it over and assume the best TV watching position.  Guess that leaves the big comfy chair for the girls.

Tent Time

Hmm, what could this be?  Appears to be a blanket covering something.

Let's get a closer look.  There seems to be something sticking out.

Oh, just a tent full of kids.

Sometimes it is great that the kids can be so amused by something as simple as a blanket thrown over Katie's bed.  This lasts right?  Right?

How do you get 2 toddlers to eat?

Easy...let them pick the leftover they want, give them the whole bowl to carry around, and let them eat it wherever they slow down.

Two Princesses

We recently received two very lovely skirts in a bag of goodies. It took the kids a few days but once they discovered how much fun they are, it has become a nightly ritual...take baths, put on pjs, put on sparkly skirts, and dance around Katie's room for a while. Notice that Katie must pull hers way up. The first time Abram put it on, he yelled out "I'm a princess," but if you will notice in the video he has changed that opinion and now says "I'm a boy!"

New Magazine

The Fletcher family got an unexpected surprise in the mail about two weeks ago.  We received a post card saying Katie and Abram would soon be getting a magazine in the mail.  The post card had a neat animal on it and the kids were so excited about that they carried it around for days.  Well after much waiting the magazine actually arrived.  It just so happened that the day it arrived we all walked to the mailbox to get the mail and there was the National Geographic Kids magazine (great for preschoolers, super neat pictures and not many words).  Many ooos and aahhhhs followed, along with Abram not letting it out of his sight for days.  Here he is getting a good look at it for the first time.
Thanks Papaw and GramT for the big excitement!

Future Farmers of America

Mommy and Daddy (actually probably more Mommy) have decided it is time to get the backyard cleaned up.  So we spent several days over the past several weeks pulling weeds, trimming trees, spreading mulch, and replanting plants.  Abram and Katie of course had to get in on the action.  They helped pull weeds, move the mulch, and pretty much anything else we would let them.  There favorite part was "dig in dirt?!" as Abram would say.
It' even better when you realized the shovel is about twice their size and they don't care, because they are big kids and they can do anything they want!

Stay tuned for pictures of the finished product.

House Hole

Grandma Morgan is building a new house.  So she asked if we wanted to go with her to check out what they had done.  Of course, we were up for an adventure so off we went.  The kids had a blast running around in the hole that will soon hold a house.  Abram especially like following the trail made by the foundation line.

And of course, if Abram does it...Katie must also.

The best part of the adventure was that right beside the house hole is a pumpkin patch (it is actually on Grandma's land).  The kids ran through the pumpkins, tried to pick them up, threw some, and pretty much anything else you can think of they tried.  It was ok, until they hit a patch of rotten ones.  That left us with a smelly mess.

We can't wait for Grandma's house to be built so we can play in the great backyard she is going to have.

Dreaming of Snow

We got this hand-me-down snow sled from cousin Will when he moved to Florida.  We haven't had any snow yet to try it out but the kids discovered the sled the other day and starting pulling each other around.  They were having so much fun.  I can't wait to see what they do when there is actually snow to pull it on.

Katie worked really hard but actually got it moving.  She might have had more fun pulling than riding!
Thanks cousin Will for the hours of fun.

Katie's New Do and a Little More

Grammy got industrious today and decided to try a new hairdo.  It looked really cute.  Guess Mommy is going to have to brush up on her styling tips.  I am sure there will still be many Pebbles days, but since Katie's hair is getting longer the options are expanding.

Since we were taking Katie's picture, Abram decided he needed his taken as well.
CHEESE!

The flash was a little bright!!
And finally a good night ritual for this brother and sister duo who couldn't do without the other.
Nothing deep, nothing profound, just the ongoing travels, trials and adventures of the Fletchers. Check out the bottom to see how fast time is flying for the newest Fletchers.
