Anyone for a good book?

Abram has finally decided that books are cool and he is trying to share that with his sister.  On this night, he pulled out a book after bath time and when Daddy and Mommy got there he was reading it to Katie.  Of course, by the time we got to the camera, Katie was distracted.

This is what Katie ended up doing while Abram read.

He finally gave up on trying to read to Katie and found a perch on Daddy to finish his book.

Apple Festival Parade

Yeah, as usual, we are behind.  Around the first of September our town always has an Apple Festival to celebrate the very yummy apples that grow all around us.  This year, we got brave and decided to let the kids try out the parade.  They did great!  Mostly thanks to Uncle Jeremy who works on Main Street and let us sit on the balcony instead on the street to watch all the cars, trucks, motorcycles, floats, and bands go by.

A Trip to the Nature Center...

one of our favorite places.

 Which animal will we find first?

 

 First stop, turtles and lots of them.

 

 Then across the bridge to the bears and deer.  Notice who is "leading" the way.

 

 Getting up close with the grey wolves.  We got to hear them howling...really cool but a little creepy.

 A quick ice cream break.

 

 They have the neatest butterfly house, where you can go into a large screen greenhouse filled with plants and newly hatched butterflies and moths.  They spray your hands with sugar water and then the butterflies will land right in your hand.  They also like to rest on heads and catch rides on bright colored clothes.  On this stop Abram was the lucky one to get to hold one in his hand.

 

 And finally the kids turned into otters to try out the slide.
