Abram goes back to (pre)school.

Today it begins.  The first week of school for Abram and Katie.  Katie will be going 2 days a week while Abram moves up to going 3 days.   He has been excited all summer about "Going to the 3 year olds room!"  Keep in mind, this is usually said very rapidly and very loud.  We were able to keep the first day special with Mandi doing the drop off and me doing the pick up.  So we are going to tag team the blogging of each day too.
I (Mandi)  came home to pick up Abram.  Before I could open the front door, he was half way down the steps with his lunch box in one hand and yelling that he was ready to go and he was going to wear his cookie shirt (his choice, not mine).  He quickly got in the car and starting buckling himself in...such a big boy!  We made it to school without too many delays.  He jumped out of the car and yelled, "My friends are already here."  We made our way out of the car and up the stairs, which he climbed like a pro, only holding my hand so I could keep him from pushing people out of his way.  He headed straight down the hall to his class.  Walked in, found his cubbie (before I could) and was off.

He headed for none other than the big trucks of course.

His teacher Ms. Holbert told him this was her little boys toy and she was glad he liked it.

And that was it, he was gone into the big 3 year old room.  He did turn his cheek slightly so I could give him a quick kiss before I left.

As I made my way to the preschool I joined the que with all the other parents and our visors covered with funny folders that had our children's names on them.  Abram had either forgot or wasn't listening when we told him I was going to be picking him up, because when he saw my truck he began excitedly jumping in place and screaming, "My daddy's truck!  My daddy's truck!"  It might just be the fact I have an awesome truck.

The smile that wouldn't come off as he was loaded into the back seat.  You might see he only has a lunch bag.  For some reason (space I think) they are not able to bring their backpacks to the 3 year old room.  He also brought home a picture he had painted.  It was of me and my long hair.  Two things about that:  1. I haven't had anything to be confused with long hair for 7 years.  2.  For the first time, something he has drawn or painted looks like what he says.  I didn't include a picture, but you can see my legs, body, head, and yes, long hair in the painting.  MOMA here we come!

A first day of school tradition I started last year, going to get a special treat.  Last year we went to the local bakery for Abram's choice of cookies.  The bakery was closed today so we made our way down Main Street to Kilwin's, a chocolate shop.  After some debate, and entertaining the lady behind the counter, Abram went with a chocolate dinosaur.

It may not look like a dinosaur now, but trust me it did.  But also keep in mind that Abram had this devoured in under 10 minutes.  Hey, I was dropping him back off at home with my mom for the rest of the day, a little sugar rush seemed fine at the time.
Tomorrow is Katie's first day.  Look for the updates.

Jet Ski

One of our favorite toys at the lake is the jet ski.  I am really not sure why or what makes it more fun than anything else but by the end of the week, it seemed that someone was on it at all times.

All the kids loved to just sit on it.

Even Papaw and GramT had their own way of enjoying the jet ski, even if GramT couldn't get on because of her hurt foot.

Boat

We spent a lot of time on the boat.  So here are some pictures of the many boat adventures from our trip.

Papaw is the boat master!

Uncle Chad shared some of the driving responsibility.  He let Abram share some the fun (we tried to get Katue to drive too, but she wasn't that brave).

All 4 kids waiting expectantly to go somewhere.

Daddy and all the cool dudes!

Daddy and a slightly wind blown Katie.

Uncle Chad and Will

Mommy and Katie (we took it ourselves)

Matt and Lindsey (with Kylie in her belly)
Daddy and Abram (they took it themselves)

The boat was a great place to take a nap.  Abram found a new favorite nap place was up in the front of the boat with Mamie.

Landon preferred to sleep on his Daddy.

We even enjoyed a night time boat ride, watching a beautiful full moon.

Lake Trip 2009

Well, we just got back from a wonderful 10 days spent at the lake.  We could not have asked for more, except maybe a few more days.  We had sun, water, boats, great family time, and super food.  All of Mommy's family met for some "bonding time."  The whole crew was able to come including Uncle Chad, Aunt Dottie, Will and Landon all the way from Florida.
Here is the view from the porch, that we saw as we walked up first thing to the cabin.

As soon as we got there it was time to get the unloading taken care of, Katie and Abram did all they could to help.

And then, as Abram said "Aaahhhh, time to relax!"

But then Landon showed up, so relaxing was over and it was time for some good cousin fun.

Will and Buzz added to that good cousin fun and it was a late, but good first night to start of the week.

Birthday Time

Not too long ago, we were lucky enough to have Mommy's aunt moved to town.  Which for her is a major change, she now gets to be involved in all family activities and we get to celebrate with her.  Last week was her birthday so we got to give her a true family celebration.

Abram and Katie anxiously awaiting the cake and ice cream part of the party.

Helping Aunt Cynthia blow out the candles.

Testing the cake to make sure it is ok for everyone else to eat.

Why is it that grandparents let grandkids do things they would never let you do, like liking all the icing off the cake and crawling across the table to do so?

After we all got full of Grandma's good cooking, we moved to the porch where the old folks could relax and the kids could run around.

Happy Birthday Aunt Cynthia
