Blueberries

Since we eat so many blueberries around this house, Mommy decided it would be a great idea for us to go pick our own this summer.  That was a great idea, except for the fact that blueberries are small and they take forever to pick.  This fact was a very important fact, especially with two toddlers to entertain.  We got about half a gallon picked before attentions turned to picking grass and anything else to throw in the bucket and it started to rain.  So we took the few we had and went home.  It was a great adventure and learning experience for all.  We will have to try it again in a couple of  years.

Ice Cream

This summer one of our little excursions was to load up in the car and go get ice cream.  For some reason it is always better from the store than out of your own freezer.  The kids thought this was just great.  Abram would often wake up from his naps saying "Go get ice cream?"  I'm not sure if he liked the ice cream that much or if he wanted to see Aunt Dot and Grandma Reid who usually went with us.  After several trips, we finally figured out not to order the kids their own because they ate everyone elses.  It was always a fun time and we all came home covered with all flavors of ice cream, as you can see.

Abram got pretty good with the ice cream spoon.

Katie just liked eating it all over.

Going to see the new school

Believe it or not Abram is old enough that he going to be starting preschool!  Today was his day to visit his preschool with me and Mandi so we could see what his Tuesday and Thursday half days will be like for the next year.

There was a brief pause at the door...

That did not last very long.

It didn't take long to find the table of cars.  Note his name tag on his back.

Outside the preschool.  Abram did NOT want to leave.  Note that I'm the one smiling and Abram is starting to pout.  By the time we got home he was refusing to get out of the car and go back and see "my friends."  Abram is going to be all backwards.  Running in the morning to leave and crying everyday coming home.  Now if only Mandi and I can adjust to him growing up so fast.

Bele Chere

Papaw and Gram T worked at a booth at Bele Chere.  We went to visit one day to see just what was happening.

Hands On Museum

Back before school started we took Aunt Dot to a new children's museum.  We had never been but thought it looked interesting.  Once we got there, we discovered it was well worth the money and made a great morning of entertainment.  They had so many new and interesting things.  The kids were beside themselves with excitement and wore themselves out running from one area to the other.  There were several times, during our visit that Mommy found herself wishing she was still two so that she could get down in the floor and play.  If you are ever in town, we highly recommend the Hands On Museum in downtown.

Whoops!

Our apologies for the messed up link to The Morgan Family blog. For some reason it got switched with the adventures of Kikoman. While it is entertaining, I'm sure it was not quite what everyone was trying to get to. At any rate, the link will now get you to updates for Chad and Dottie.

All Girl

Contrary to all of Mommy's efforts, Katie is all girl.  She is all the time slinging something over her shoulder for a purse, pushing a cart of some kind around the house, and talking on the phone.  She also like shiny, sparkling things and shoes.  Oh well, maybe she can teach Mommy a thing or two.

Notice the bucket pocket book and the baby in the stroller.  If I am not mistaken, she has a play phone in her "purse."

A Walk in the Woods

One beautiful afternoon, we decided to take a hike in the woods. As you will see from the pictures, Katie was all over the place. She was all over the place, trying to climb tress, investigating all the bugs, climbing over all the rocks, and just excited to be in the woods. Abram on the other hand was not in the mood to go exploring, so he and Daddy found a nice rock to sit on and watch the world go by.

Picnic at the Pink Beds

A couple of weeks ago, Aunt Dot and Grandma Reid invited us on a picnic.  Of course, we accepted, packed a few goodies and jumped in the car.  We drove up to the Pink Beds in Pisgah Forest, where we ate and played.  After playing in the field a while, we discovered a very shallow stream close by.  So of course we had to check it out.  The kids (and Mommy and Daddy) had a blast splashing around, chasing critters, and throwing rocks.  It was tons of fun and we can't wait to go back.

John's Wedding

The first weekend in August the Fletcher family made a trek to Raleigh for our good friend John's wedding.  It was a first for the kids.  Their first time to Raleigh and their first wedding.  They did surprisingly well.  Katie made it all the way through the wedding and Abram made it almost to the end before leaving the sanctuary because he just couldn't get that quiet voice to happen.  After the wedding we drove back to our hotel, which just happened to be the same place as the reception.  Lucky for us Papaw and GramT were in the room next door, so we took turns enjoying the reception and enjoying watching the kids run.  After the adventure in Raleigh we packed all our stuff back up and headed home to get ready for the next great escape.

We made it home...

The Fletchers have returned from their many wanderings.  We started our tour with a family friend's wedding in Raleigh and then traveled to Lake Keowee in South Carolina for a week with Mommy's family.  It was wonderful and very hard to come back to the real world where way to soon Mommy and Daddy have to start back to work.  Here is a picture to get you interested, more to follow.
