A Very Busy 4th of July

It is a bit behind in posting, but we had a very busy 4th of July. We were still in recovery mode form the great weekend with Dave, Vanessa, Lucas, Jay and Sunny. It was Abram's second but Katie's first. The entire day was spent mostly worrying how they would react to the fireworks. Well, that and eating. First off was a trip to Uncle Jerry's for lunch with the Fletcher clan.

Abram was way too excited to eat much of anything, much to the chagrin of his parents. We finally just stopped trying to fight it and let him run around and play. He had a little whiffle ball, a little chase the other kids, and some feed the fish to top things off. Katie spent her time showing off her great smile and catching some short naps.

We tried to crash some between lunch and fireworks. But again, we worried about Abram and Katie reacting to the loud fireworks.

It's been a long tradition to watch the fireworks from Jackson Park on my Dad's back porch. They hit right above the treeline and we cram on the porch while making jokes about Dad needing to cut down some limbs. Katie hung out with Mandi and Abram stayed in my lap for the entire show. I kept waiting for a big show from them full of tears and screaming to go inside. Instead I got this:

What can I say, my kids are sleepers. They come by it honest. And yes, the fireworks were still going off when they zonked out.

Hope everyone else had a safe and happy 4th!
