Katie's First Day!

Up next, Katie!  She will be going 2 days a week, her first preschool experience.  She had been talking about it some, but still wasn't quite sure what would be going on.  Just like yesterday, Mandi was able to bring her in the morning and I did the pick-up.  We are going to split the blogging again.
When I got home, Katie had just decided it was time to eat breakfast.  Grammy had already done a great job getting her dressed in her butterfly outfit and braiding her hair.  She ate a couple of strawberries and then was ready to go.  Katie grabbed her backpack, ran to the kitchen and grabbed her lunchbox and stated she was ready to go.  I was able to get her in the traditional first day pose with backpack on and lunchbox in hand.

As you can tell by the expression on her face, she was kind of quite and nervous I think.  She really didn't say much all the way there.  I did get her to tell me that she was going to play with her friends
When we got to school, she proudly jumped out of the car and put on her backpack.  She held my hand until we got in the door and then she "did it herself" walking up the stairs.  We were greeted by her teachers, who tried to direct her to the dress up clothes or some other girly activity.  Instead, Katie found the parking garage and starting pushing buttons and making great car sounds.

As you can see, much like her brother, she was more interested in checking out all that was going on than telling her mommy good-bye.  I did manage a kiss before I slid out the door while Katie entered the world of being a 2 year old.

Just like yesterday, I made my way through the que of cars all waiting to for that first day pickup.  This was the first glimpse I saw of my suddenly grown up looking little girl coming out the door with her teacher.

Making her way down the sidewalk.  I can't say enough how much older she looked.

I promise she was excited to see me.  Her teacher said she had a good day and was a very good girl.

Next up was letting her in on the first day of school tradition of going to Main Street for a special treat.  I gave her the option of cookie from a great bakery or chocolate from Kilwin's, where Abram went yesterday.  Her choice, "Fish."  Did I mention the girl loves Goldfish crackers?  We settled on Kilwin's and then had the further adventure of trying to pick out a treat.  She finally pointed at the same thing more than once and we went with that, some chocolate covered peanut butter.  Those she loved.

When we got home Abram was anxiously awaiting the return of his sister.  This was the first time that Abram has had to watch Katie leave and be by himself.  It seemed that  he was kinda agitated all day and kept asking when "my sister" would be coming home.  He could barely wait for her to get out of the truck before giving her a series of bearhugs.  Katie had missed him too.
Enough of that, time to play!  This is going to be a good year for the both of them, I can tell.

Katie looks so grown up and we just saw her a couple weeks ago. I can't imagine how much she will probably change from now and Christmas. Glad she had a great day!!
